Unreal Engine 5: Build a Complete Survival Game with Blueprint
Create an epic survival game with crafting, combat, and modular systems on a stunning tropical island - powered by UE5 and Blueprints.
//

Build a survival game with mechanics that actually hold together.
Crafting, inventory, building, enemy AI: survival games are a stack of complex mechanics that all need to talk to each other. This course is built around getting that architecture right, using modular Blueprint systems that stay manageable as your project grows.

Design a grid-based inventory you can expand without breaking everything.
Inventory systems are one of the trickiest things to build well in Unreal, and one of the most satisfying when they click. You'll create a clean, grid-based setup using a database-driven approach that makes adding new items, resources, and gear straightforward rather than a rebuild every time.

Wire up crafting, building and harvesting as one coherent loop.
Chopping trees, collecting resources, crafting tools, placing structures: each mechanic feeds the next. You'll build them as modular, connected systems in Blueprint so the whole loop works together, and adding new content later is a matter of extending what's already there rather than starting over.

Develop enemy AI that keeps players moving and thinking.
A survival game without pressure isn't a survival game. You'll build advanced enemy AI that hunts, reacts, and keeps players on their toes, then set it loose on a tropical island environment built with Unreal 5's landscape and foliage tools. The kind of scene that makes you want to keep playing.

Ship a complete, optimised survival game built on solid Blueprints.
Optimised Blueprint code, a well-structured project, and a full feature set: crafting, combat, inventory, building, AI, environment. By the end you'll have a finished survival game and the modular coding instincts to keep developing it, or take the same architecture into your next project entirely.

Gorka Aranzabal
I'm Gorka Aranzabal, but I'm better known as Gorka Games. I am an indie game developer who creates Unreal Engine 5 tutorials on YouTube, helping hundreds of thousands of game developers each month.
I began creating games at the age of 8, learning to use Unreal Engine and Unity. I started by developing small games and participating in numerous game jams for UE4, which was a rich learning experience.
After several years, I shifted my focus to Unity and began programming in C# more seriously.
Over time, I embarked on a commercial project called "Bromeliad," which I have been developing alongside a senior programmer. The game launched in early access at the beginning of 2021, and we plan to release it fully by the end of 2023.
In the summer of 2022, I started making tutorials on YouTube for Unreal Engine 5. My channel quickly grew, and I am now regarded as one of the top UE5 channels. Having worked on various team projects, I have created both beginner and advanced UE5 courses. Now, in 2023, I am teaching hundreds of thousands of game developers around the world each month.
