Draw, Even If You've Never Thought of Yourself as an Artist.
I can't draw is the thing almost everyone says before they've actually tried properly. This course starts from true fundamentals, stroke, shape and shade, and builds toward real game concept art, whether you're working digitally or with nothing but pen and paper.

Sketch Game Objects With Real Personality.
Weapons, castles, quirky props: drawing game objects is where the fundamentals start feeling like actual creative work rather than exercises. You'll practise stroke, shape and shading on things you'd genuinely want to draw, building confidence one object at a time without worrying about getting it perfect.

Give Characters Dimension and Pose.
A flat character doesn't tell you anything about who they are. You'll work through dimension and pose to bring characters to life on the page, then start blending shapes together so forms look natural rather than like a pile of separate parts stuck together.

Build Scenes With Real Depth and Perspective.
Isometric drawing, 3D shapes, one and two-point perspective: the techniques that turn a flat sketch into a scene with actual depth. You'll apply lighting and shading on top, the finishing touches that make a drawing feel like it belongs in a game rather than a page in a sketchbook.

Design Concept Art From Spaceships to Environments.
Characters, props, environments, spaceships: by the end you'll be developing genuine concept art across all of it, using the fundamentals, perspective and shading you've built up across the course. What started as "I can't draw" ends with a portfolio of game concept art you made yourself.

Grant Abbitt
Hi, I'm Grant!
I started learning blender in the late 90’s and started using it for some motion graphics work for a small film company that I ran.
I went into teaching which was meant more as a backup option when the film work was not so regular. The teaching gradually took over and I have been teaching now for around 15 years. I moved into teaching games design 6 years ago which rekindled my excitement for 3D animation. I then started to find bits and pieces of freelance work and created my YouTube channel Gabbitt Media.
Since then my channel has over 500,000 subscribers and I have worked on game models for the game Atlas Empires along with many other interesting projects from engineering to 3d printing.
